Deep Foundations
SperryCo provides solutions for new construction or the reinforcement of existing foundations. Our services encompass underpinning, drilling with low overhead clearance requirements, and handling a wide range of ground conditions, including sand, silt, clay, boulders, glacial till, weathered rock, and bedrock.
Micropiles
Micropiles are drilled and grouted piles reinforced with steel. Typically ranging from 3.5” to 18” in diameter, micropiles can be applied in both tension and compression settings.
- Non-displacement piles are traditional components often utilized for bridge abutments and pier foundations. Characteristics of these piles may include permanent steel casing, reinforcing bars or cages, pressure-grouted bond zones, and bonding in rock or soil.
- Displacement type micropiles, drilled and grouted in a single-pass system without removing spoils, can provide more cost-effective solutions under suitable ground conditions compared to traditional micropiles.
Rock Anchors
Rock anchors (or ground anchors) consist of a steel bar assembly installed in a pre-drilled hole and then grouted. These anchors are employed in tension applications to counteract uplift pressures from groundwater on subterranean structures.
Helical Piles
Helical piles, also known as helical piers, screw piles, or helical anchors, are drilled in a straightforward, single-pass method. These piles have a steel shaft with helical bearing plates attached, typically one to three plates.
